The Fourth Annual Sedona Conference on Complex Litigation will focus on critical case management decisions, and the judgment calls required to make them. The faculty panel includes three sitting trial judges, a former trial judge and private practitioner now running an in-house legal department, along with expert litigators and mediators. We will be discussing and debating what to consider and what judgments need to be made when making decisions regarding document production, deposition discovery of lay witnesses, witness preparation, use of demonstrative evidence, expert witnesses, jury consultants and whether to request a jury at all, and the proper role and best practices for successful mediation efforts. The panel will provide an introspective view of these key case management decisions, leading discussions designed to uncover hidden problems and divine best practices for managing complex litigation. Updates on Rule-Making, proposed amendments to the Manual for Complex Litigation, Ethics 2000, and current issues faced by the U.S. Judicial Subcommittee on Class Actions will also be provided.
